Letter Regarding the SPF Nov. 2016
Please read this important information about our SPF:
Dear Beach Court families,
Thank you for being a part of our school community. As we work toward the Denver Plan 2020 goal of Great Schools in Every Neighborhood, we want you to know that we hold ourselves accountable for the success of all of our students.
This week, we learned the results of our school report card – called the School Performance Framework – which is used to measure performance on our state test results and other key data. DPS uses this as one of our primary tools for measuring our school’s performance.
Now that we have our results, we are pleased to share that the hard work that our students, families and staff have been doing at Beach Court has shown improvements we can be proud of – and that means the Board of Education will not consider our school for restart or closure this fall.
We will still have our School Quality Review to help us continue to improve and better serve our students. A trained team of neutral observers – including DPS parents and school leaders – will visit our school. They will evaluate 10 key aspects of our school’s performance, such as quality teaching and strong support for all students.
The visit will include focus groups with families, and I encourage you to share your feedback about our school with the team. The review team will create a report of our strengths and challenge areas that we will use to plan ongoing improvements. If you would like to participate in a focus group, please contact our front office staff to sign up. We will share the results of this review and our plan for improvement with you in the weeks ahead.

We are a STEM School!
We have some very exciting news to share – the DPS Foundation announced that we have been selected as a recipient of a Campos SMART Lab! What is a SMART Lab? It is a 21st century learning lab that applies a project-based, student curriculum centered around all aspects of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) packaged in a fun, motivational, creative space. This marks a huge accomplishment for our school and most importantly, a whole new level of learning for our students! We’d like to thank Marco Campos, the DPS Foundation and the selection committee for this incredible lab and learning for our students.
