We have some very exciting news to share – the DPS Foundation announced that we have been selected as a recipient of a Campos SMART Lab! What is a SMART Lab? It is a 21st century learning lab that applies a project-based, student curriculum centered around all aspects of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) packaged in a fun, motivational, creative space. This marks a huge accomplishment for our school and most importantly, a whole new level of learning for our students! We’d like to thank Marco Campos, the DPS Foundation and the selection committee for this incredible lab and learning for our students. Some of the projects students will be working on include… Learning how to design, create, and program simple robots with Lego WeDo Learning about circuits and programming with MakeyMakey and Snap Circuits Learning about computer programming and coding with Kodu Learning about drawing and animation with Animation-ish, Comic Life, and Pixie Learning about simple machines with K’nex Learning about the scientific method and data collection with Vernier Science Learning about science and geometry with Zometools Beach Court is PROUD to offer Personalized Learning beginning in the 2016-2017 school year!

When the weather is cold, students need to bring coats, hats, gloves and boots. Students will go outside when the temperature is 32 degrees and above according the DPS website and news websites. We also take wind chill and moisture levels into consideration. We feel it is very important for students to get daily exercise as the weather permits.
Parents, please feel free to sit with your children at breakfast and escort your children to the auditorium during drop-off on inside days.
Parents, you are always welcome to sign in and pick up your child in office on cold weather or rainy days. We also will open up the cafeteria at 3:30 for parents to wait for dismissal during severe weather days.
Beach Court is now a Play Works school! You will see our recess transforming in the next few months to one with lots of games, choice, inclusion and play! Visit http://www.playworks.org/ for more information or stop by and see us at recess!

Here are some great parent resources to work with your children at home:
Please Park along 49th, and Alcott to pick up or drop off your student. All students will be picked up in the morning and dismissed in the afternoon at the back of the school. Please DO NOT drop students off in in the middle of the street and remind students to cross safely at the corner. Please do not park in front of the school as busses need to be able to pick up students. We appreciate your cooperation!
